VOLUNTEER
Local volunteers are the driving force that helps keep Hunterdon County a great place to live and work. That’s why United Way works throughout the year to promote volunteerism and mobilize our community to improve the lives of our neighbors. In fact, thousands of local residents and businesses turn to United Way for volunteer opportunities because United Way offers them the flexibility of deciding between various methods of volunteering. Here are some of United Way of Hunterdon County’s popular volunteer initiatives:
Tools 4 School
Individuals, employee groups and service organizations collect donations of new school supplies for local students from hardworking families who cannot afford to purchase even basic supplies.
Holiday Hands
United Way of Hunterdon County works with local businesses, organizations, schools, families and individuals to bring holiday gifts to hundreds of low-income individuals and families throughout Hunterdon County.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance United Way of Hunterdon County offers FREE tax preparation assistance to working, low-wage earning families and individuals to help them save money and claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other tax credits they qualify to receive. Volunteer to help put dollars back into the pockets of the people who earned it and back into our community. United Way of Hunterdon county is currently looking for volunteers to become certified volunteer tax assitors, volunteer greeters/screeners and translators.
Day of Caring
Day of Caring projects serve to build team spirit within an organization, to teach employees and residents more about United Way’s impact in the community and to make a difference to our neighbors in need. Board and Committee Opportunities
Your individual talents and interests can help make a difference in our community by serving on one of the leadership committees described below. Committee responsibilities include:

Resource Investment Committee – review and assess agencies and programs applying to receive funding from United Way of Hunterdon County.

Resource Development Committee – assist with developing and improving account relationships, recruit and maintain donors.

Signature Event Committee – plan and implement this annual event recognizing the outstanding contribution of a local volunteer by organizing the silent auction, inviting members of the community, and more.
