“To see my son’s bright smile on Christmas morning when he saw that Santa had come was a present all in its own. I am glad there are people out there like you who bring joy to needy families.” From one of the letters to generous donors who have been supporting United Way of Hunterdon County’s Holiday Hands program since 1998.
This year we anticipate the number of people in need of holiday cheer to continue to grow and we need your help to fill their wish lists.
There are several ways to get involved in Holiday Hands:
Adopt an individual or a family: United Way will match individuals or organizations with a family and/or individual and provide their wish list. Gift cards are always needed, especially for individuals and families that are not “adopted”. Adopt a family or individual now. And if you are shopping for your families online, don't forget to use AmazonSmile at smile.amazon.com/ch/22-2431065 for your holiday gifts and Amazon donates to United Way of Hunterdon County. #StartWithaSmile
Volunteer: We start planning for Holiday Hands months before you start hearing renditions of “Winter Wonderland” so if you’d like to spend a day, a week or a few months working on this program, we can use your help. Many of our dedicated volunteers have been working with us for years and they keep coming back for one reason – the overwhelming gratitude of recipients. *Volunteer opportunities are limited for the 2020 season due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Hope begins with a small gesture that may only last a minute but often changes a life. And the outpouring of generosity from those within our community shows us that we aren’t alone in this belief and for this we are grateful to all of you, our neighbors, and our friends.
