Tools 4 School - Back to School

2022 Tools 4 School Program

What is Tools 4 School? Every year United Way of Hunterdon collects school supplies for children on the free and reduced lunch program in school districts within Hunterdon County. In 2021, we helped 800+ students from pre-K through 12th grade with filled backpacks to help them start the school year with the tools they need to succeed.

How does it work? During our annual drives, we engage with our community volunteers and donors to collect back-to-school supplies such as pencils, crayons, markers, earbuds, composition books, notebooks, folders, glue, etc. Through our school partnerships, we learn what supplies are needed for each grade level, and then assemble backpacks full of those grade-specific supplies for each student who applies.

How can I help? Please start by filling out our Donor Information Form and download our 2022 wish list here.  To donate, you can shop local, or shop online.

  • Shop local at our community partners like ShopRite of Hunterdon, BJ's, and Staples of Flemington.
  • Shop online by purchasing items from our wish list that ship directly to us (Please include a note with your online donation or forward us your confirmation email so that we can thank you for your generosity!):
  • Host a donation drive to assist us in collecting supplies.

What is the deadline? Online donation orders need to be placed by Friday, August 12th and In Person drop off on Wednesday August 17th. Other important dates can be found here.

Where do I drop off? Items can be dropped off at the Volunteer Center from Monday through Thursday between 9 am to 3 pm or by appointment.
United Way of Hunterdon County Volunteer Center, 20 Fulper Road, Flemington, NJ 08822

Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more resilient community where every child can fully engage in their education.
